Ghizal Miri understands the difficult journey many immigrants face. As one of the first female exchange students from Afghanistan to be admitted to the United States to further her education, she appreciates the opportunities the United States provides. Ms. Miri received a scholarship to attend the University of Houston where she graduated with Honors. There she worked in the international student office with Language and Culture Center assisting other international students in adjusting to life in the U.S.
Committed to the giving back, Ms. Miri joined the U.S. Army as a certified translator and earned the rank of Specialist. She is fluent in Farsi/Dari, Urdu/Hindi and possesses a basic knowledge of both Arabic and Pushto. After completing her military service, she attended Texas Southern University’s Thurgood Marshall School of Law. While in law school, she interned with the U.S. Department of Justice Executive Office for Immigration Review in Houston, Texas where she worked closely with attorneys and the immigration judges.
Upon graduation and becoming a license attorney, Ms. Miri handled both civil and criminal matters in state and federal court ranging from DWIs, possession, assaults, and contract disputes.
At Quan Law Group, Ms. Miri has used her expertise to analyze and handle criminal immigration defense matters as well as a wide variety of business and family cases. A member of the firm’s Litigation Section, she represents clients in removal and bond proceedings.
In addition to being a member of the State Bar of Texas, Ms. Miri is a member of the Texas College of the Bar, the American Immigration Lawyers Association, and was selected in 2020 as a “Top 40 under 40” lawyer by the American Institute of Trial Lawyers.
