Kathryn N. Karam was born in San
Antonio, Texas. She attended Trinity University in San Antonio where she
earned her Bachelor’s degree in Chinese in 2002. She attended the
Hopkins-Nanjing Center in Nanjing, China from 2002- 2003, where she
received her certificate in Chinese Studies. She earned her J.D. from
the University of Texas School of Law in 2007.
During law school, Ms. Karam worked at Political Asylum Project of
Austin for two semesters and served as a student attorney in the
University of Texas Immigration Clinic. She worked at Houston Volunteer
Lawyers Program during the summer of 2005 and received the University of
Texas Co-Op Public Interest Summer Fellowship to work at the American
Civil Liberties Union of Texas the following summer. Ms. Karam was also
an officer of Domestic Violence Survivor Support Network. She was
admitted to practice in Texas in 2007.
