| | Alexandre I. Afanassiev was born in the former Soviet Union . Coming to the U.S. to further his education, he has earned a distinguished academic record: “Most Outstanding Male Student”, “Most Outstanding International Student” at San Jacinto College (1998); Recipient of the “Joel Sailors Award” Department of Economics as well as the College of Social Sciences ' Outstanding Graduate Award from the University of Houston (2000).
While at the University of Houston Law Center, Alexandre served as a representative and Secretary of the Student Bar Association. He worked at the University of Houston Law Center Immigration Clinic for two semesters where he successfully represented and counseled several persons before the Executive Office for Immigration Review (E.O.I.R).
Mr. Afanassiev earned his Doctorate in Jurisprudence in 2003. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas and the American Immigration Lawyer Association. All of his prior legal experience has been in Immigration Law. He enjoys traveling, Russian history, and American football. Mr. Afanassiev is fluent in Russian and English.
